Yeah, it hatched out by itself, no assist whatsoever. So obviously the drive to hatch was just fine. It was just... weird. Even m husband said that he couldn't understand why it hatched out so nice but was so deformed LOL
Of my Marans, 9 total hatched! But one is weak and splayed legged. When I put the bandaid splint on him, he's just laying there not trying to move, kind of like he's given up :( He was eating and drinking last night, but won't eat or drink this morning :( The other 8 are fine.
Also that lone...
My singleton Araucana hatched tonight while I was at work. It pipped this morning around 9am, and busted outta that shell by 6:50 pm. My husband gave up on this chick (day 22), we had the power outage when it was day 7-10, but it survived! Fuzzybutt now has a sibling!
My single Araucana went into lockdown last night as well. I don't know if i posted here about it. We were down to 2 that survived when the power went out, but only one survived after that...
Well we will see about my batch of eggs due next week. Power has been out since last night 5:30, we had a generator running until about midnight, then it broke down. I had the singleton baby in my cleavage most of the night staying warm. Them my fils friend brought his and fixed ours... 10 hrs...
Oh yah, baby is fantastic. Cute little Fuzzybutt. Runs and climbs into my hand when I reach into the brooder. We have him/her in a brooder split with my month olds that are going to make the transition into a big coop soon. We will be keeping a RSS baby with him, but for now they are seperated...
For our 3 hatching this week: only 1 alive. One pipped wrong side, didn't make it thru the membrane and drown, and the other was DIS, probably about the time I put them in the hatcher. We were questioning that one to see if there was movement before hand. :(
I have no idea why, but this one made me bust out laughing at work. I think it's because that's how I think I look in the mornings when I get out of bed!
I hear peeping! Every once in a while I hear someone cheeping and think "where in the world is that coming from??" and then realize that the 3 on lock down are on day 19, should be hatching any time now. And of course when I cheep back to them, they are silent...
Having to sit on my hands is...
I put my 3 set at 12 am on 10/27 into lock down tonight!! (Well, one hour early...)
Of the 10 Araucanas, 6 are developing! I marked their cells and left them be. 3 were clears, 1 was an early quitter.
Of the Marans eggs, 4 I could see definite veining, the rest were too dark to see w/o...
3 of my eggs go into lock down either tomorrow night or Saturday morning. If you want to be technical, it would be 12 am Saturday. Trying to decide if they can wait until 7/8 am Saturday morning, or if I should just put them into "lock down bator" tomorrow night before I go to bed.
And then...
Well... got 12 more eggs today.
Also ordered a second incubator for a hatcher since we will be having a staggered hatch.
But on a side note I am glad we got another dozen, candled real quick when I added some water last night (day 10) and 3 of the 6 that had started quit
Still frustrated...
AAAAhhhhhh!!! HAYDEN?!?! HI neighbor!!!
**coughcough**So sorry... Currently in Rathdrum, formerly in Post Falls, house is being built a little north of Rathdrum currently... (edit: living with inlaws until house is finished. Sold home in PF last month , luckily my inlaws LOVE chickens.)
So...
Won "6" eggs, received 12!!
HOWEVER.
Half of them have fully detached air cells Granted, the last batch when I had 1 detached air cell, that is actually one that hatched (i think, i didn't mark them too good lol).
So for now I shall be doing this:
