chicken can't keep her butt down

she started out with wry neck, possibly a head injury. she has improved to the point that she eats on her own. but she has not been able to stand on her own. if I stand her up she just falls without any attempt to catch herself. she keeps her left leg straight out. when she's in her sling she...

chicken can't keep her butt down

well still nothing new to report. my heart aches. I have posted a couple pics of her leg and foot. the first one is how she holds her leg when I have her in the sling. I keep putting it back in place but she puts it right back. she holds it stiff, and I have to gently force it back. this next...

chicken can't keep her butt down

my girl is showing no signs of improvement. she eats good, drinks good. but she has went from trying to sit up and move around, to just laying on her side. I had to bathe her yesterday and I noticed that (not sure how to explain this) where her vent is, there two bones, called ischium in a pic...

chicken can't keep her butt down

update: I have been putting my lil girl in her chair every day with her leg wrapped. she has shown no improvement at all. I made her a sling so she could move herself around by herself. she just hangs there. if I push her near the food she will eat otherwise she doesn't try. I took the wrap...

chicken can't keep her butt down

okay I might have hit on something. the splint I had on didn't seem to make any difference. I took it off when she was resting. I bought a vet wrap today and decided to wrap the leg from top to bottom. when I got down to the ankle? her other foot just started quivering, so I wrapped that spot a...

chicken can't keep her butt down

today is the first time I put a splint on it. I examined it before splinting it, that's when I noticed it was swollen. what kind of aspirin and how much. she is a little thing. i cut off popsicle sticks and smooth the end. then wrapped gauze around the tips then wrapped the leg loosely then put...

chicken can't keep her butt down

I splinted the bottom portion I guess u would say from the knee to the ankle. But I did notice that the left leg(the sore one) is larger than the right. Possible swelling? Should I forgo the splint and just wrap the whole leg? I felt for bumps or something that would indicate a break but didn't...

chicken can't keep her butt down

she can't walk or even stand alone for that matter. If i stand her up alone she falls on her left side and will stay that way. watching her in the sling I notice she moves her right leg normally but if she moves her left leg, it will either slide behind her and then she can't put it back in...

chicken can't keep her butt down

I rigged up a chair something like the first pic you posted. she is trying to stand more now and can eat when she wants. she loves being able to watch everything going on. it's not fancy, just parts we had laying around. we didn't glue it together so we can make it bigger if we need to.

chicken can't keep her butt down

thank you. I am giving her vitamin E and selenium and vitamin B12 mixed in her pellets. and probiotic in her water. when it started she was laying upside down. I fed her with an eyedropper so she has come a long way. she can now stand on her legs, and stay upright most of the time. the problem...

chicken can't keep her butt down

my silkie chicken has/had wry neck. I've nursed her back to where she can stand/sit in one place. if I sit her up she will slowly sink down to where her neck crop area is on the floor and her butt is up in the air. she still can't walk. I've tried a sling but she freaks out. I thought of...
