Are older (10+ days) hatching eggs more likely to produce unhealthy chicks?

Just thought I would give an update on my "old" egg incubation. I set 20 eggs last week, the oldest of which were 15 days old at the time of setting. It is day 7 today and I have only had one quitter (14 days old when set), which was fertile but never developed past one tiny vein. Hopefully the...

Are older (10+ days) hatching eggs more likely to produce unhealthy chicks?

I keep hand sanitizer bottles all over, partially for this reason. I also own a parrot and so I have to be very careful about changing clothes/shoes after being in contact with the chickens. And of course now with the HPAI bird flu in North America, it's even more important to be mindful of...

Are older (10+ days) hatching eggs more likely to produce unhealthy chicks?

The recommendation I went by said to store hatching eggs at 13-18°C (55-65°F), and my basement sits around 15°C/60°F. I keep the main part of my house a bit too warm.

Are older (10+ days) hatching eggs more likely to produce unhealthy chicks?

The viability dropping doesn't bother me too much, since I won't be putting any other eggs in the incubator. So even if the eggs older than 10 days had a significant reduction in viability, it would still mean more chicks overall. Edit: I can absolutely turn the eggs more often!

Are older (10+ days) hatching eggs more likely to produce unhealthy chicks?

My last round had good fertility (14/14) but a few were early quitters and a couple failed to pip. I'm hatching silkies and they don't lay a huge amount of eggs to begin with, about two eggs each every three days.

Are older (10+ days) hatching eggs more likely to produce unhealthy chicks?

Hi all, I just wrapped up my first ever hatch on Tuesday, and I'm already planning the next one. I only have two hens whose eggs I will be incubating, so gathering enough eggs to fill my 28-egg incubator is not a realistic goal. However I would like to maximize the number of eggs that I put...
