    yup. What Kathy said.

Maybe this will be helpful for you. Some males do begin to quack, but then loose the ability later.... This is one of mine that did this. I gotta say though. This sound is quite different than the girl quack which is clearly a quack. http://ibarbidahl.blogspot.com/2014/06/quack.html as for the...

Look at the picture of the one you think is a boy. See the really dark feathers all the way around his beak? That is what I am talking about.

    Welsh Harlequin

Yes. She is gold phase. No black on the back, and brown wing bands. Shes very pretty. :-)

Tatooed - the breast color can help identify them as can the pattern, but what I have found to be 99% true is the dark ring around the beak, and the pattern on the dark feathers leading to the tail. Pin striping is mail, and lacing effect is female. These 2 things have ALWAYS held true for me...

Did that post, post twice/ How in the world? (The one with her sitting on the eggs) OK- so my drake is a silver phase and that is what makes all the boys silver and the girls half and half. If I have 100 eggs and all of them hatched chances are I would have 50 silver boys, 25 silver girls...

    Welsh Harlequin

From everything I've read a silver drake over a gold hen = 50% silver drake 25% silver hen 25% gold hen. So, the gold will be 100% hens and the silvers will be 75% drake 25% hen. I'm excited but can't keep any more unless they are going to be dinner so will be looking for homes for them. The...

Yes! She is a gold phase. I got one, too. Now she is sitting on eggs. Best news? Only the golds will be females so when they hatch I'll know right away if any are the same. LOL

Peepnquack- How long has she been laying? It takes some time to get adjusted. My gal started laying at 24 weeks... THese are the first 3 she laid. Sorry- couldn't help the chance to post my sweets. (Swayze & Baby) Now I can't fit more than 1 or 2 in my hand max. They are getting bigger a...

Depends on how old they are, doesn't it? Generally speaking this breed lays around 20-24 weeks.

I was wondering because I have a Holderread gold girl and she is so light. She's about the same age- she's molting now like yours into her adult plumage

Your fellas are getting very handsome...and your girls are golds.. interesting. Where did you get them? They are beautiful.

Pebbles - Hard to tell by that picture. But the little peek of wing bar on the farthest left one looks a bit blue... so she is definitely a silver. Besides, we love pics around here so post more!

PeepNQuack- What are you using for diapers now? My little one has outgrown the sock idea. LOL

    Welsh Harlequin

Well. The girls have been at the house for a week now. The gold phase is NOISY. NOISY, NOISY! (6 wks & 13wks) This one is quite a loud mouth as well, but luckily the peeping may be constant but not loud enough to hear throughout the house. LOL. I hate that she's alone but she's imprinted...

@farmgirl360 Definitely looks like one of each to me! By now you might be able to see a green sheen to some of those feather on the darker ones head. They look about 10-12 weeks? Northernlivie: I'd say give it a week or two. They are just developing them now and haven't grown out all the way...

Oh poo. I was hoping for a different outcome for your duck LightningT! :-( OK- So I definitely ended up with 4 drakes out of my hatch...I have picked the 2 that I will be eliminating from my breeding pen. One has feminine coloring as a juve and the other has a very light colored head. I want...

    Welsh Harlequin

Well- honestly it's because they are all different ages I've got 4 1/2 - 9 weeks old. It is the oldest that just started making a different sound. I've got a link back to my blog with a video of this sound in the other post.

    Welsh Harlequin

Pebbleslynn- How old are these two? The coloring and feathering looks hen - the bill (especially on the one) may be pale but it's not always set until they reach maturity. How about sounds? Anyone quacking yet? I'm not exactly an expert here - obviously I posted myself for this same reason. My...
