They are great. They have since acquired some new roommates, 2 young geese, and currently 7 young chickens. Everyone is unfortunately locked up right now as we have been having predator issues. Had a huge owl try to take one of my young ducks, before I scared it off. And my neighbor's full...
Mine just aren't quite sure about this snow. My oldest ones I got as ducklings last January so none of them saw snow last year. And we've just had a couple dustings to one-inch storms so far until today. Normally - I just fill up their feeder once in the morning and they have it empty by bed...
They recently learned that if they save their snacks and food "for later" outside in a snow storm, their quack snacks disappear under a mountain of snow. Sad quacks now. LOL.
My dogs and I would just like a nice snow... then we can go to spring. Sleet sucks.
The quacks seem to be ungrateful regardless of the weather. Too hot... too cold... who knows. I think they just want extra attention LOL
I let mine out a few min ago to go free range. They sprinted out "OMG FREEDOM"... stopped when they got to the snow that's now coming down. Thought about it for a few minutes.... then sprinted down the hill towards the ditch where the small river was yesterday from pouring rain hoping to go...
YES! THAT.... I was like OMG why did I spend so much time yesterday in the pouring rain trying to make you a happy warm house for the impending winter doom...
One is still ungrateful. Or just not very bright 🤣
The rest found their shelter…
Until I let them free range and now they are out looking for yesterday’s River to swim in… it’s snowing here now. 🤦♀️
Today's episode of the very UNgrateful quacks. Ice storm, snow, sleet, you name it, we might have it or get it this week. Yesterday it rained ALL DAY and then started to freeze last night. Switched to freezing rain and sleet. So last night I added another tarp to their pen and lots of extra...
I have briefly considered chickens, but probably just stick to ducks. My ducks are messy... not sure chickens would appreciate them. Plus I have a couple of drakes that I'm not willing to part with. So not sure I can add chickens since they'd all be together?
I was looking at easter eggers...
Me “everyone seems to feed their birds warm oatmeal and such on really cold days. I should make some for the quacks since they don’t even want to move right now it’s so cold.”
The ungrateful quacks “OMG WHAT IS THAT IT MIGHT BE POISON STAY AWAY OMG”
Me “I guess even the peas on top that you...
Thank you! They are so comical... they've been fairly grateful recently, but I'm sure we'll revert to ungrateful quacks for more comical material soon!
Today’s episode of the GRATEFUL quacks… they are so happy for duck soup in this crazy heat we are getting.
The only thing in the garden that’s really survived the summer flooding here has been my zucchini. And it’s flourished. We have SO MUCH zucchini so any animal or human that can eat it, gets...
