    Is there any place where the wire is loose? Where something could squeeze between the wire at the seams? Is the top secured? Are the chicks in a dedicated brooder or, are there older hens too? I agree, pictures of the space would help us, help you.

    Rodents or snakes can get into your brooder unless it is secured everywhere with hardware cloth. You should have no opening larger than a quarter.
