5 or 6 today per sitter. She couldn’t remember. She says she’s got 30 total. That means average of 5 per day from 15 hens. Not great but not too bad given the time of year and molting. Did I mention that I pickled some eggs for the first time? It’s been just over a week brining them so...

Per the sitters there were 5 yesterday and 6 today. 6 the day before yesterday but the 2 leghorn eggs in that day broke - one soft on the roost and one when The sitter picked it up. And best of all - 2 dead rodents! So the poison is finally being eaten and is working.

I checked at 2 Walmarts in town and nothing. I think it was just this super country located store that still had a few. I’m still hoping that the church that has a fall bounty display will give me their pumpkins at the end of the month.

Away from home so getting sitter report of only 3 today - one of each color. Yesterday I think I got 7 but not sure as it was crazy trying to get out. Here’s Daisy going full in on half a pumpkin. I got the pumpkin for $1 at a Walmart in the middle of nowhere.

Playing catch up. I got 12 Friday, my first full day home. Then only 4 (!) on Saturday. Today it’s 6 so far today but one was a soft leghorn egg. A neighbor bought a dozen yesterday and the main buying neighbor is buying 4 dozen today. That total basically pays for the feed for the month for...

9 again today per the sitter. She however forgot to feed the hens their daily fermented feed. Luckily there’s plenty of food in the bin feeder as well as biota in the compost bin and greens from the fire bush. No one will starve. But still..... grr.

That’s a long day for both of you. And her friends - lol! I hope it all worked out ok. Left on vacation today so got 4 eggs before I left. Rained a good amount in the morning. A lot cooler too. WonderIng how much we’ll get impacted by the projected artic blast. Are any of you prepping for that?
