I lost all of my hens to a racoon, possum, something this past weekend. So, I have one lonely rooster I need to get rid of. Anyone in Central Texas looking for a Barred Holland rooster? He's free and I'd be willing to meet up with anyone between Austin and Houston.
Cool. I just started collecting eggs to hatch. Hopefully next weekend I'll have enough to crank up the incubator. Looking forward to picks to help with culling afterward.

I'm in Carmine, TX. About 20 minutes west of Brenham.
I'm currently on a few acres on the highway which is where I keep my pigs and chickens. I also have a 30 acre patch where I run a few cows. Will be moving a few mile up the road hopefully by June 1. It's 77 acres. Once I get there...
I've been here for a while. Just not much of a public speaker... :) I'll look around and see what I can find. I was just hoping someone knew of another breeder (i.e., Sandhill) that may give me better results.
Thanks,
Jesse
Having trouble finding barred hollands. I bought 25 chicks from Ideal. Wasn't really happy with the turnout. About half came out solid black. Only one of the roos didn't have white ears. I think I got the one roo and 3 hens out of the 25 that are even somewhat close. I'd like to acquire...
They came from Ideal. From what I've read I'll need about 75 more to get a decent starting flock of 8-10!!
I've been quite suprised at the variety of sizes and colors these guys have. I know they're supposed to be barred, 8.5 lbs on roosters, yellow legs, white eggs. I don't know how much...
I'm in. I just sent a msg to ALBC telling them what I had. My guys are still small. I believe I've got 11 pullets and 10 little roos. I'll was going to wait till they were about 6 months to figure out who to cull. I'll be looking primarily for largest roos and white egg laying hens.
I've...
