    neighbors are losing chickens also, sometimes up to 5 a night...some are saying they've seen a cougar or small mountain lion..we're setting a more serious trap near the live trap over the weekend to see what we catch..

    A neighbor lost 5 chickens last night, all had heads taken off and left laying in the yard..what predator does this?

    Trying to identify what got 2 of our chickens....almost looks like a huge cat as tall as the trap it won't go into!! trap is 16" high..

    The hen we lost was the one in the cage, I'm wondering what breed she was as we've attempted to sell out & everyone wants 1 or 2 but I won't sell unless they take all w/coop & accessories. If I can't sell I'd like to replace the one we lost with a couple more of the same breed..

    We are suspecting a coyote as one has been roaming the area lately and since there were no feathers inside the pen or coop I think she ran out when it spooked her and that's when it got her....we never saw any blood or anything but feathers...and whatever it was it jumped a 6ft chain link fence...

    I was awakened to the chicken scream & knew right away what happened...I ran out with a flashlight & they were all spooked but It was too dark to see anything & I didn't realize she was missing till daylight!!

    Yes they are in a very secure pen, however we forgot to close the door last night...our own stupid fault!!

    of course it was our fav hen!! not even a paw print anywhere, just feathers all over the yard!!
