I believe that both RIR and SLW should have yellow legs. I don't have either breed, so I don't know for certain. Anyway, I have no explanation for why the chicks would have any color legs other than yellow. I wish a real genetics guru would join our discussion...

As to the sex linkage of the Silver gene...
Here's how I understand it.
Silver is dominant to gold. And the gene for silver/gold is located on the sex chromosome.
A hen will have only one gene here, as she lacks the second sex chromosome, thus making her a hen, right?
So a silver-based hen...
You know, that mystery chick does look a bit like my Daisy did. Here she is at around 3-4 weeks: (She's the one in front)

With the RIRXSLW chicks, are the gold ones pullets and is the silver one a cockerel? I had forgotten that I read that Silver X Gold can produce sex linked chicks.

I'd love to see pics of the RIRXSLW cross, if you get a chance. I'm interested to see how much lacing comes through when there is only one laced parent. Sounds like it's more than I expected.
