Thank you! The video helped with the wiring (which I was confused on before lol) :) The only difference is I will be using a digital thermostat instead of a hot water heater thermostat.
Thanks!! I'll take a look at that.
Edit: Oh I've actually read this one! It's a great article and explains things so well, even I can understand it lol. Very good read
Okay, thank you.
I was originally going to start with MissPrissy's design since it was made from a Styrofoam cooler, but ended up finding some newer versions. I think I have somewhat of an idea to start with.
Yep, I'm already addicted and I haven't even started !
I have read through some of them but they are mostly old ones. Do you have any recommendations of good ones I can read up on?
So I finally got around to ordering a thermostat, and it should be in on Monday!! Once I get that I can start putting the incubator together. I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself lol!
Yes, true. I think there are a few that actually are digital on there. I'm glad something like that will work though, I would like to be able to get one at a pet store or something so I don't have to order it.
Thanks again for your help!
So I was thinking, what about a temperature controller commonly used for reptiles? Like this one. http://m.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/zilla-500-watt-temperature-controllers#
You can buy them at pet stores and it says it controls any heating device..? Just a thought.
Okay that makes since.
So would a digital thermometer with probes work? Like this?
Or maybe even a digital cooking thermometer with probes?
Sorry for so many questions, I want to make sure I understand everything.
Thanks for the reply!
Okay, so don't do a hot water heater thermostat, that is what I was thinking but was just making sure.
Thanks for the estimation on about how many eggs will hatch and how many will be hens, it is helpful.
Yes, this way of getting a few more hens is probably a little more...
Because I only have two chickens right now and neither are broody. I also don't have a rooster anymore so I will have to order some eggs. I have wanted to build an incubator for a while now, and thought this would be a good opportunity.
Okay, so I've decided to build myself an incubator and hatch a few eggs! I'm so excited! I am making it out of a styofoam ice chest because that is what I have on hand. BUT before I get too far into this, I have some questions.
- What is the best thermostat to use? I've read to get a hot...
