    Well, no chick. rotten nasty sludge in there. I swear I felt movement and the membrane wiggle when I made the hole but I must have been imagining it. Dark eggs are hard! Definitely don’t recommend for a first hatch.

    I’m giving it another half hour. Have to be back at work at 1:00 ET for a couple hours. Hoping he starts the zip but I’m also wondering if there are humidity issues and he can’t turn in there. I want to get him out before I have to go back to work!

    Could not hear tapping. Took it into a very dark room and candled and was able to identify a lighter area near the fat end. Gently carved out a tiny hole - no blood, can see movement/breathing inside. Cranked humidity and put it back in. Hopefully this gets it going! This is nerve wracking!

    The others are out. The air cell looked ok on lockdown but I can’t see an outline anymore. When I hold the egg in my hand I can feel movement inside. I should maybe make a safety hole by the end of today if it hasn’t pipped? I am worried I can’t see where the chick is in the shell because it’s...

    I have a dark egg I was able to see an air cell on until a week ago. It’s end of day 22 and hatch mates have all hatched. (This was the only Marans). How much longer do I wait?
