Emu 2 is free and drying off in the incubator. Soooo happy. I gave one of the emus as a gift to my roommate, so we'll be raising them together. They're so beautiful and intelligent looking.
Egg number 2 has just cracked open! Wow! This is so wonderful. My first time ever hatching eggs. I have no idea how long it takes them to come out fully, but I see his little beak peeking through and he's sure taking his time.
Thank you! Still waiting on egg number 2. I can hear him moving around in the egg. I've stayed up all night checking on the egg because I was so worried that his big brother would knock him around and confuse him and he would be too disorientated to make it out. How long do you normally leave...
Day 52 is over now and no signs that the emu are trying to come out of the eggs. Just a lot of wiggling. The humidity is around 30% and I'm opening up the incubator every few hours to let carbon dioxide out
I just saw an egg wiggle! I keep opening the incubator to get fresh air in there and one eggs started rocking when I whistled at it. It was going crazy rocking back and forth! I'm so excited. Today is Day 51. What do you advise for humidity level for hatching? I'm in the very dry desert, so...
They were shipped eggs and I was worried about them from the start. I started to get hopeful though when I was on target with my weight loss every week. If there's proper weight loss I assumed the eggs must be developing correctly. I really really hope these guys make it. It's my last chance to...
The incubator is at 96.5. I've tapped on the eggs, the counter and whistled at them and I don't hear anything. I even listened with a stethoscope and couldn't hear anything.
Ugh, my emu eggs aren't chirping or wiggling, but are still losing the correct amount of weight every day. What gives? I am incubating at a slightly low temp., so they may take longer than 51 days, but I would have expected something by now. What I'm really wondering is if I should stop turning...
