Do you know what animal is responsible for it ? It could come back and try again. Even if you make it more secure the animal will know there is food there and try again. Need to trap or kill the Predator. Luckily we haven't had any problems with any type of predators yet. Good luck

This is my new coop build. It's 8'x10' the door is heavy duty critter proof. There will be another wall and door 3' in. The first 3' will be used as storage. Going to pick up my pine lap siding from the saw mill Tuesday. It started out 6'x6' foot design then my lovely wife got involved and now...

You can find a bunch of pallets and reuse them. Ride around new neighbor hoods being built and ask the contractor for all the scrap wood and shingles. If you use pallets and scrap wood all you have to do is paint them with a outdoor latex paint and it will last a long time and looks nice too.

That's cool. I'm thinking about building a chicken tractor. I have them a nice size run and let them out to free range a few hours a day but stress out when they are out so a tractor would be good for them (& me) to get a new place to scratch around

Just don't know about pouring chemicals on the ground. The ammonia will kill all the grass. Wonder if dilute it with water would be ok and not be so bad

It's mainly when u put it down its dusty. It the safest thing I have found for snakes. I use moth balls under my building but they will hurt dogs if they eat them and I wouldn't use them around the chicken coop cause chickens might taste it and hurt them. Snake away is mostly all natural ingredients

I use snake away from tractor supply. It seems to work well. I put it down twice a year. Some folks use lime. They say it burns there bellies. I have small kids so I don't want to use anything that will hurt them or the chicken. As far as the cleaning I keep mulch and grass clipping in the run...

I think I think the best bet will be the corrugated clear panels. They will be strong for the weight of the snow. Plastic would rip to pieces and gets quite brittle after being exposed to the elements.
