I explain it to people that don't understand how that's possible this way: I don't need my husband around to ovulate or to go through my normal menstrual cycle, but I do need him to make a baby... Hens do not need cocks to produce an egg, but they do need him...

    I'm wondering, is it possible that they may be Jersey Giants... I don't have any of those, but have heard that they appear similar, and they mature much slower.

    [/img] 5 month old pullet [/img] 5 month old cockerel. These guys were easy to tell their sex very early. The comb on Big Boy was huge at 2 months. Boys have the large combs and waddles, the have the impressive sickle feathers in their tail, and let's not forget the pointy saddle...

    By 9 months you would know if they were roosters just looking at them.
