hello hello! It's been a while but thought I should update this.
Everyone's doing well - Eggo laid 9 eggs and I decided to incubate them after she decided that she didn't want them. 5 of them are developing, hoping that most of them will hatch - looking forward to seeing which colours they'll...
Long time no post! Everyone's doing well. The girls started laying about a month ago, I believe Eggo lays white eggs and Yoshi blue eggs - I would love to hatch some but I don't have enough room for more.
Update on the babies - we finally have snow that sticks and they're pretty happy about it. The other day they tried to walk around in it but it was too deep for their tiny legs.
Still haven't gotten snow - but its going to rain a lot more today so I guess that's the ducks' christmas present lol. They'll also get a bowl of peas tomorrow.
They're more happy about mud puddles than swimming water. Never seen a duck run as fast as Eggo did to get to another (less deep) puddle.
new photos from the last couple of weeks :) Sadly still haven't gotten snow that sticks for more than a day.. it just melts after and then everything's muddy, which they also love.
(featuring my dog in the fourth pic)
Eggo looks filthy in this one but she did have a bath after.
it snowed a lot yesterday so I let them out for a while, they loved it, within a few weeks they'll probably sink in it though because they're so small.
Yoshi also decided to have a bath in her water bowl.
I do! I forgot to update this.
From a couple of weeks ago - Yoshi somehow lost almost all of one of her nails, looked like she was dying so emergency vet trip. She had to stay inside for about 5 days until she could go outside again. She was not a fan but I didn't want her to injure herself...
I got them from Mill Pond hatchery (http://millpondhatchery.ca/)! It was the only place around here that had Calls.
And they are!! They'll eat out of your hand and like being around people.
I honestly don't know how either haha, I have chickens too and they really scratch up my arm but the ducks don't seem to. Maybe because they're really light but their nails almost never hurt or scratch anything.
I was never notified of your reply but I'm so glad he's doing better!
That's so exciting!! need to see them when they hatch. I miss when mine were babies, I might end up hatching some if I need more hens
New pics! I found a huge snapper (at least a foot long?) in the creek the other day, they...
They're doing great! They love the water - they can hardly swim in their kiddie pool anymore so I've been letting them swim in the creek, there are a bunch of small fish in it but they unfortunately suck at catching them. He's very handsome! His colouring is gorgeous. Do you have any pictures of...
Thank you ❤
I have some new pics of the babies! Echo's brown feathers finished growing and his head's very slowly turning green, and he's getting his drake feather. he's a very pretty boy. I don't have many new pics of Yoshi but instead a bunch of Eggo.
here she was looking up at the geese;
I am, and thank you, he was a very sweet boy :( I wish they didn't either, I know they need to eat but it's still awful to lose birds to them. Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate it ❤
