    I still haven’t gotten any eggs from my girls, but my rooster has reached maturity. He’s crowing daily (which I love) and mounting the hens I have (which they don’t love). The whole flock will be happier when all 17 girls are fully mature. They’re all 19-20 weeks so anytime!

    Very interesting! I’m sorry you ended up with 4 roosters. Happily, we are able to keep our one rooster. He’s a handsome, goofy fellow. Do you happen to recall what they are crossed with besides the Silkie? They are certainly not small chickens.

    Exciting! Congrats! What color are the eggs? I’d love to see a pic of the egg—mine are 14 weeks and I hope they start laying soon, too. I’ve noticed their ear lobes are beautiful blue, and they’re waddles and combs are getting more fully developed. My little cockerel isn’t crowing yet.

    I’ve got three of these so called Southern Ramblers, but we call them the Mystery gals. (Tho I’m thinking we have one mystery guy...hard to know since we don’t know what they actually are). They’re bigger and heavier than my same age Barred Rock pullets...and their legs are comparatively huge...
