I do too but that's because I am definitely NOT the "up at crack of dawn" type of person. :) Once the chicks join the flock (for me, around 4-5 weeks old) then they're on the adults' schedule.

Is there any light inside the coop (i.e. heat lamp)? If not, they do not need to eat or drink overnight so no need to have food and water in there, provided they can access water at least as soon as daylight comes.
