I guess I'll go ahead and upload one of my Isabel Welsummer males in molt. You can see where the slowest molting is at. It takes so long for this part to come out in the males. And it's the most distinctive part of the Isabel.
Maybe what I said didn't make since. If I picked only the most docile birds to breed from a specific breed and kept doing that over and over would I get a sport? Breeding for a specific personality could hold surprises as well considering it's all genetic. And something could tag along...
The rules say no but I've seen stranger things happen. That's what's so interesting is that you never know what's gonna happen and I'm always trolling for sports.
Off topic a little. My curiosity here lately has been the Ayam Cemani. I'm curious if adding lavender to this breed could result in...
Go for it, good luck and keep us posted on that. I'd love to see the end result or even the progress if your open about your projects. If you think about it a lot of breeds could become an Isabel. It's just one more color to add to the spectrum and honestly I could see it becoming a standard in...
Everyone's opinions will differ slightly here. But yes its not good to do a lot of sibling mating's BUT when your putting new color genes into a breed and the color gene requires sibling mating's then you have too. Or else the color won't pull back out.
The base you have is definitely there to work with. If you have patience and plenty of money for feed then the rest is super easy. First off with any project I always look for the shortest path of resistance. Example if I'm working with a clean legged shank dark egg layer I try to find the two...
So far from all matings I've not had one throwback and that's a very good sign my Isabel's are solid. Every chick is a consistent Isabel with of course auto sexing markings in the Isabel color which I think is very cool :) The original lavender I used to cross was from Hinkjc's Lavender...
Sorry for the delay everyone. I'm extremely busy and it's hard to get time on here anymore. First off Id like to thank everyone who encouraged and liked this project.
This is probably the most interesting project to date for me and is my all time favorite thus far. To watch this color change so...
Egg color is almost at optimal. Picture is showing the comparison to my Cottage Hill Line of French Black Copper Marans. I can't wait till they fill out for you Carolyn. You'll really be impressed with the blossoming of colors they'll display.
