    what did they feed "in the olden days"?

    Speaking of feeding dogs back then, I remember my grandma (probably in the late 1950s) making huge pans of cornbread and pouring bacon grease over it, to feed to the hunting dogs that Grandpa had. A lot of cheap dog food is mostly corn today, so I guess she wasn't too far off the mark.
