Oh, boy! That's great news. Im sure you'll have a great hatch and then by the end of November, you'll be started on those blue Orps again and this time, they'll work!
You know, I'm wondering if Charlotte's that have blood rings are due perhaps to where they were in the box I sent-maybe that side was bumped or sustained more vibration, somehow. Would be good to note that in the future, I think. Anyway, STELLAR performance from Silver's eggs! Sounds not too shabby!
Priss, the unlabeled ones are Charlotte's, as you know, and I label them that way so we can see whose eggs hatch better, just like you're doing. I thought it would be an interesting experiment to try. Charlotte has been laying longer than Silver has, but not by much, and the baby I just hatched...
I had my bator bulb to blow during the last hatch, but I happened to be standing right over it and saw the temps falling. We did the fastest lightbulb change in history!
Bright LED flashlight, not a regular one, or a slide projector with something to place the egg on to concentrate the light through the egg, like a twisted washcloth.
That Scout sure knows what he's doing, doesn't he? All eleven are growing? That is absolutely fantastic! That's all I sent of the Ameraucanas, right? Cool!
Getting the right wattage bulb for the type and size space you have can be difficult. We're experimenting with some different scenarios in the fridge-a-bator, trying to get it completely right before I have to move my eggs to the hatcher. If we can't get it to DH's satisfaction, I'm betting...
LOL, okay chicken-mom, calm down! They are not the only ones you can ever get, so just do the best you can and if you dont have a great hatch, then we'll just have to get you some more to try.
I'd say water wiggler is a more true designator(wrong word, but the right one wont come to me, LOL) of temps in the eggs. Air temps can go below or above for brief periods without changing the egg temps significantly. You just dont want them to stay high or low for any real period. Your humidity...
