Cher, without the four extra batteries (it comes with one already), it's $21.95. With the extras, it's $24.95. Plus shipping, of course. It's not made to keep inside the bator, but has a probe that goes into a hole in the bator and is made to be turned off between temp readings, and is similar...
Hatch is over. None of the four made it. My styrobators are failing me lately or my instruments are or a combination of both. I'm going to hatch in the Fridge-a-Bator next time! The nine from this last group who hatched are crazy, wild babies, though! Have to sell a quilt or something to buy an...
Hope the little guy makes it, Cher. Five Dels and four Orps are hatched. Leaves four Dels not pipped yet, the ones I'm sure were in the cool spot. Maybe I'll pip the aircell later on just so they don't run out of air before they can get out. Have to wait for Tom to get out of his Dr appt...
And once in the brooder, the Orps, usually very laid back, are acting like little gang members, right along with the Dels!
Another Delaware has pipped, but still waiting on five others to open that tiny window.
ETA: The last of the four Orps has hatched and it's a splash.
Three Orps have hatched and two Delawares. A fourth Orp and third Delaware are well-pipped, but I'm still waiting on six Dels to pip. More pics for you:
Good luck, Cher! These are the slowest bunch I've ever had, but I know for sure there was one section of the bator that was cooler than it should have been so that may be what's going on. The Flukers digital thermo/hygro was so thin, it used to fall between the rows of the turner, so I used one...
One Delaware hatched and though it's a couple days behind the others, it's just as big. Kira produces some very large babies with Isaac. There are six others pipped, all four Orps and two Dels, with six left to go. They're not going to make this easy on me. Today is Day 21.
These chicks are killing me! Day 21 is starting and I have 3 out of 13 pipped, one of them being an Orpington. Usually, the Delawares are pipping like popcorn and the Orps are lazy bums, but they are being very slow in these two hatches.
#7 Delaware just hatched, late to the party. We lost the #6 baby awhile after it fluffed out, who never really got going. Looked fine on the outside, but must have been something amiss on the inside. The last egg wasn't pipped so we opened it. The baby never positioned itself to hatch, head was...
Sure, I'll post pics, Kathy. Actually, I will be selling the next batch to help with some bills. It's fun to hatch then not have to brood more than a few days and start all over again, LOL.
#6 is having a very hard time. Just lays there, breathing hard with eyes closed. I'm not counting it out, though, since I've had them look to be in worse shape and they rallied in a day or so.
I removed the last two eggs, one of which is pipped, and put them in the other bator with the batch...
