SSS...and then bury it deeper? Did anyone see this??

I think you'll find that there is a law against dogs running at large off the owner's property, even if it's not a leash law, per se. My teeny little rural county even has that ordinance, for all the good it does. Doesn't say the dog must be leashed, but it does say it must be under the control...

Miltonchix, I didn't see who were you replying to in your last post. I do agree with you. Why do their rights trump mine just because I'm the one with the chickens and not the dog? Personally, I don't care if my neighbor is upset, angry, whatever, in a situation like this one. Guess I'm not...

I just wanted to say that this has been a pretty peaceful thread, though members disagree on a number of points. These often go off the deep end. Thanks for keeping it calm in here, you guys.

Hardly anyone would shoot a dog who was just passing through, not taking any notice of their chickens or humans. Most wouldn't just shoot a dog on sight who was doing no harm. That isn't what we're talking about. Wanted to clarify that I never said I would shoot a dog who just walked across my...

People, you cannot make a generalization for all dogs on that. A dog on a killing spree should be approached with extreme caution. Wendy, that dog was YOUR dog, knew YOU. A strange dog is completely different. No comparison at all.

Please stay on topic here. Religious topics belong in the family section, not P&P. We're talking about killing a predator here. Good grief. Next, shooting hawks it usually against the law. Remember, some have tracking chips in them and they'll find where you buried it. A dog running amuk is...

Some general comments--A dog on its own property is a pet. A dog on someone else's property is a predator. It's really that simple. I know that there are occasions when a dog may escape his property, but 99% of the time, the dog is on your property because the owner habitually lets it roam or...
