    OK stupid question: what do "drafts" mean in the chicken world?? I have a few small cracks in the wood of the south wall that cold wind could blow into and maybe push in through the contours of the really old windows (less likely though), is that considered a draft? I don't see where there...

    OK thanks for the diluted bleach idea, will go spray the awful mold in the storage coop before putting up coverage panelling on the walls. I hope the mold isn't active in the winter because it's too cold or something?.. The tin roof in that section is definitely leaking and needs to be patched...

    ps - I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the weathered wood on the outside. I wonder if it's too late to stain it or use some preservative? Luna, I wanted to stain the wood but it's so porous and brittle, there is no chance in heck anything would work I wish the buildings had been preserved over the decades...

    The part your using looks pretty darn good. The biggest problem you have, is need for ventilation - get it quick, the mold is screaming big issue, but at least it's not where they are . . . YET. If it were me and low on cash I would just add some vents, like airconditioning wall ones? with...

    LOL thank you... it's not what I would want for my flock but it's what was there... seeking to make it better though. Someday we'll sell this place and one of the requirements of the new home will be to build a big, brand-new coop in our back yard! No more rickety ancient crooked building, LOL!

    We moved here this summer and inherited an ancient chicken coop, the former owner kept a flock so we decided hey, why not? We now have 11 hens and 3 roos, all seem pretty happy in their space but the outside run is too small and bare, will be expanded next summer to a big secure fenced...
