They are the same birds except with a major fault. There is absolutely no reason to believe single comb birds increase fertility, better lacing, better color, or any other characteristic besides comb shape. The actual single comb allele doesn't increase fertility or any other characteristic...
Single combs are occasionally a byproduct of breeding BLRW. Every once in a while one shows up. I know a good breeder who says 5-10% of their hatchings from BLRW are single comb. But yes, as the person above me mentioned, wyandottes need to have rose combs and technically if it has such a...
A certain breeder has used RC RIR to help develop their particular line of BLRW. I wouldn't recommend it unless you really know what you're doing. If you say he's already nice why cross him with a RIR?
IF you want a BLRW with orange color and pale silver lacing then you dont want a BLRW. Blrw shouldn't ideally have orange base feathers but rather red color. A BLRW with orange color technically is not a BLRW but rather a mutt. Plenty of horrible breeders sell them on Facebook. You'll see a ton...
You have some good genetics with that #1 cockbird in the first pic. Pretty good type, great hackle color, decent base feather color and good wing mahogany color especially in the coverts. I cant see the cocks in the other pics well but they have good color, although a bit of shafting. Your hens...
Well, first off, in case you didn't know, they are not a recognized variety, so you cannot get more than a BV with a BLRW. But, you can still technically show them.
There is no such thing as a splash blue laced red wyandotte. It is just a splash laced red wyandotte. Think of ameraucana. They...
In a perfect world, a wyandotte head should be round and thick. This guy has a very shallow skull depth, causing the head to look long and thin. His beak also is a bit on a long side, adding to this head shape commonly known as "crow head". Its very common and not anything to be ashamed of as it...
I really like this boy compared to some of the other males posted on this thread. He has good color in both his base feather color and lacing color. Could be darker but lets not be picky, may change as he ages too. His type looks pretty good, I wish his back was shorter but I do like his tail...
Those are indeed black laced red wyandottes. They are a natural byproduct of breeding blue laced red wyandottes, as in any BBS breeding program. If those are eggs from breeding a BlueLRW to another BlueLRW, she has no way of knowing which egg will hatch what variety until it hatches.
Honestly the blacks will come in handy when you are strengthening lacing and darkening blues. The splashes are just a byproduct that are probably fun to look at but wont be the best for breeding. Nothing wrong with breeding splashes, obviously, but as opposed to blues they are less ideal as they...
