Had I gotten 1 lemon out of 8 bators.. i would have said .. "ok.. so I got a bad bator"... instead of 1 I got 5 "lemons".. yup FIVE out of 8 had I gotten 1 lemon out of 7 turners I wouldn't have been happy... I got 4.. yeah.. FOUR out of 7 I ordered 1 Brooder.. it came with frayed wires...

Nope.. Brinseas are designed to make the company as much money as possible... and their "factory calibration" is a joke.... for now .. after you buy about 6 or 8 of them you may change your mind a bit... some are lemons.. some are ok.. some start out ok then take a nose dive when you least...

the styro bators work great IF you have them in a very stable environment I can only use my modified LG during the winter (for emu eggs) during the summer it gets too hot here and the bator overheats.. (we don't use the AC)

DISCLAIMER i do not advocate dropping the temperature in a Brinsea or playing with the temperature in a Brinsea or even looking at the temperature knob on a Brinsea personally I have done it... and it can be a royal PAIN to get the temp regulated back up for the next batch of eggs in a...

it's an old hatching trick that was taught to me by my grandparents..... think of it this way hot air holds less oxygen that cool air humid air holds less oxygen than dry air hatching eggs need more oxygen and so do the chicks so hot humid air has less oxygen available for the chicks to...

now you know why i resorted to using fans directed at mine.. and also why I'm not thrilled with brinseas anymore (one of many reasons)! I wish I had never bought so many of them... ugh! btw.. it's easier to keep a small fan handy than to touch the temp knob...

Hopefully they are just a day late.. after they warm up for a few hours candle a few and see if you see any movement.. (but even if you don't .. don't toss them until several days after their due date.). then give them a few more days and candle the same eggs again and see if they have developed...

it really depends on how far along the embryos are.. what day are you on? Usually a slight temp drop only results in the hatch taking an extra day or two.. however if the embryos get too cold for too long it can kill them.. at hatch I drop the temps down into the 98 - 98.5 degree range.. but...

you may also find that the temperature under the hen at the bottom of the nest is cooler than the area directly under her at skin and feather level. That's one of the reasons why hens turn their eggs about 96 times a day.. it keeps the temperatures more consistent inside the eggs since the...

as the embryos grow they do generate a certain amount of heat.. not enough to keep them warm and make it through incubation to hatch though One of the things I hate about Brinseas is the pitiful thermostats they use.. even when we were having a heatwave here they would continue to heat instead...

no need to apologize.. Brinseas are all pretty much the same .. made by the same company and designed to hatch eggs.. many of the people who posted in this thread have owned one or more.. and not all were the eco 20's I've owned way too many of them and several of their models .. and even...

I've been hatching in the Brinseas for awhile and have several which were running pretty much non-stop.. I own several of them and have also sent several to the dump for being defective with frayed wires.. so it's not like I just started incubating in them last week.. for the record.. eggs CAN...

the eggs tend to fall over if you don't put something there to help stabilize them.. paper towels work well and can be thrown out after the incubation period is over.. the paper towels don't come in contact with he water wells if they are used to stabilize the eggs.. so they would have no real...

especially if the eggs are hard to come by or are harder to hatch... it would be horrible to have eggs start to develop nicely then have a catastrophic event happen and kill them all

I saw that.. and as I said I was just wanting to let WyoChickenMamma know that there was a chance it COULD happen.. so hopefully they can avoid the same sort of situation and heartache.. I never said it would happen to ALL of them.. just cited one instance that I am aware of so they would be...

good luck with that (the bolded part).. after you receive a bunch of defective products they may not be as nice to you at least that's what I and several others have found to be the case edited to add.. I see you're in the UK.. maybe their customer service is better there.. cause here...

I remember the person who had the crash saying she had to clean up a bloody mess.. so she was well into the incubation.. apparently someone or something moved some wires/tubes and tangled things up a bit

I remember reading where someone who had it had the whole thing crash into the floor one night when all the wires and hoses got tangled (I think they got caught up in the turner.. or a cat.. or something).. so you may want to keep an eye on that
