So I went to ChickenStock and I bought 4 Black Copper Marans and 1 Cemani. They were all less than two weeks old I believe. Well, outside I had chicks that were 8 weeks --too big and hens -- way too big. But in the brooder, I had 100 one week old freedom ranger black chicks. So, I decided, in my ultimate wisdom to put all these BLACK chicks together. The only one that I can tell is not a freedom ranger is the Cemani! I cannot figure out which ones are my Copper Marans!
I am hoping that by the time butchering day gets here in late August the 4 Marans will stand out. They are all now 5 weeks old....ugh.
