I think im having nesting syndrome lol... We have 34 bobs in the bator, scheduled to pip on Sunday... I have never hatched bobs, and have to admit i am quite nervous after reading all these threads on baby quail problems.... Oh these eggs are so tiny, im scared lol.

Im a mother. I got this haha...

I have a hovabator, i got the eggs from McMurray...34 of them, on July 1. I let them sit for a day, big end up, then set them on July 3. Temp has been consistent at 99.5 (batorcsays 100.4 all the time but my therm says 99.5, and i trust IT more... Humitidy, i had conflicting numbers between 40% abd 55% for set, so ive been lettingbit hover around 48%. It did get down to 25% a couple times but it was very temporary.

We have an old "doghouse" from my DHs days on the rigs... Its like a camper but completely closed, only one window and a door... Out of wind and weather for brooding, then we are making an aviary for them while they brood... I will be using a poly tub for watering livestock, its about 100 gallon, 30 inches deep and about 10' in diameter. Light will be a red 125 watt. Temp will be 95, starting oyt with a heat pad under the brooder on hatch day si the botton is warm... Day temps range between 85-100 but nights go down to 65, so the light will stay on at night for sure...

Oh my lol, ...do i have it covered? Is there anything im missing? I woukd love tips, advice, constructive criticism lol, all ya got. I havent been so nervous about babies since i "laid" my own! Lol this is so exciting!

Thank you for alk your help; i have already learned SO much here, but hey, first hand experience is way better than following random directions and waiting :D

Edit* I forgot to ask the question I actually posted this for lol... I'm taking the Turner out tomorrow, and then up the humidity to what? 75%?... There are conflicting RH suggestions for hatch, so I want to do it right... I assume the more humidity the better? But I don't want it over 85 obviously? And they need the high humidity to continue in the brooder?

They won't need extra humidity in the brooder. You also don't have to take the turner out. Just turn it off. I've only hatched in the trays because when I started I read this is how you get the best hatch rate. Since I always done well on hatch rate I stuck with this method.

Ok I can unplug it...they won't get caught in them or not be able to pip correctly? That's another one if those things that I have read about a 50/50 split on either taking them out or leaving them in the Turner lol.. Oi too many options ;)

I've forgotten several times & left mine turned on. Especially when the incubator ran hot & I had early hatches. If it is left turned on then yes they get their little neck between the trays & can't pull their head through for about 30 minutes when the tray has shifted to the other side. I've rescued a few because they get noisy & let you know they are there. I've never had one get hurt from it tho.

Eek lol no forgetting and squishing birds ;) .... I guess they're a lot tougher than they look... So then, wait until they all hatch and dry before transfer to the brooder?

Leave them in up to 24 hours if you can wait that long. It is hard to keep yourself from opening it tho. Even after hundreds of birds I still wasn't to pop it open to get a closer look but remember you may be killing sine that haven't finished their hatch yet.

I bet you're not nearly as excited as they are lol, good luck and have fun!

Oh I bet they are! I'll probably be panicking, for no good reason lol; I'll post pictures if I can :)

Oh that'll be tricky, butvi think I can manage; the humidity can't drop; got it.. Keeping the kids out will be the challenge lol...

DH has tons of experience with the Bator; me, zilch. Why he would torture me with these tiny things is beyond me lol

Well, my DH is one of the 50% that takes the turner out lol...so, happy medium, they went into sterile trays and the turner itself has been removed.

Upped the humidity. Its at 78% right now.

When i went to transfer the eggs, some of them bounced like mexican jumping beans! Oh so cool lol :D

Lockdown, i suppose.... Patience is not one of my best traits.....
