We recently got a new hen and roo, (Black Wyandotte Bantam), a few hours after we brought them home she laid an egg (medium size, hard shell - bigger than we expected from a Bantam, but this is also our first Bantam). We were told the hen was 6months old and Roo was close to a year, they are very gentle and had been in separate pens, we put them together and they get along ok). It has been 4 days, and she had not had another egg, and has her tail feathers tucked down towards the ground and lays around a lot (either on the ground in the corner, or in the laying boxes) she does get up and eat and drink normally. Any thoughts? I am worried that she doesn't seem active, hasn't laid an egg in 4 days and her tail is tucked down under her...

Give her some electrolytes asap. What does her poop look like? When she sleeps does she put her head around into her feathers? Any other symptoms, heavy breathing, watery eyes?

I would not worry about her not laying in 4 days. Some breeds are not consistent layers and a lot of factors can come into play with her stopping laying. It could just be the adjustment period.

But, I would worry about the fact of her acting lethargic & tucking her tail.

Thanks all, she is eating and drinking well, and seems to go to the bathroom normally, I checked her abdomen and her vent, her vent area is clean and I can't find any evidence of a stuck egg. I am hoping she is just slow to adjust to her being moved. We blocked off the nest and she is now sleeping on the roost, but still has her tail tucked and doesn't do much :(. We have 4 other hens, and a rooster (he came with her)
