Not sure if this is a prolapse or something else. I don't think she is egg bound

but I'm not sure. I haven't been taking care of my chickens the last week or so, it's been my husband. He didn't notice anything wrong but I noticed it right away when I took care of them tonight. I soaked her in a bucket of warm water and cleaned her up. I didn't want to start pushing and thing or anything like that until I knew for sure what it was. She is acting normal other than straining to poop.

I'm sorry I have no experience with this problem before. Wish I could help!
I hope she's going to be okay!

It looks like a prolapse to me. Give her a good soaking in a warm bath with epsom salts added to the water. Clean off the poop really well (the white stuff). Apply some hemorrhoid cream or honey to help reduce swelling and see if you can gently push the prolapse back in. Offer her some extra calcium (crushed Tums, yogurt, liquid calcium - this will help her retract the prolapse). You may need to repeat the steps. If it keeps coming out, keep the exposed tissue moist with cream/honey.

Make sure she is well hydrated. Offer some poultry vitamins in her water. Food is secondary - offer her normal feed with a little chopped egg or tuna for extra protein.

Here is more details on treatment:

So she's had a couple of Epson salt soaks and I've been cleaning her. I've put hemroid cream on her and gave yogurt. I'm going to make a trip to the store to get some liquid vitamin calcium and some other things that may help. It doesn't seem to be retracting.

Have you tried to gently push it back in after giving her a soak? Sometimes they need a little help to get it back in.
