I have heard of using super glue instead of stitches on people. I have also heard of people using it on their animals, and I figured it was a good idea. However, can I use it on a two day old injury? It is clean, disinfected, and it is really just a missing patch of skin on my chicken's right drumstick. I can pull the skin togetherm and I am worried that it will get dirt/debris/manure in the wound and under the skin. I have it bandaged with gauze, but I know from experience that wounds heal best if allowed to air out properly. Also, the bird I want to use it on is a Cornish X meat bird, would super glue be safe to use if I want to butcher the bird?

Thank You,

I would clean it really well with sterile saline and pull the edges together and super glue the top part of it. Leave the bottom part at least a third open so it can drain very freely. I also will crush up an antibiotic pill and sprinkle that directly on the wound, dusting it very lightly, not packing it, and it seems to help stop infection at the source. I am not recommending that you do it and I am not a vet, I'm just saying what I do and how it turns out for me.
