We live in a hot summer climate. The following are ways I use to keep my two girls more comfortable;

1. Box fan

2. Misters

3. 80% Shade cloth

4. Coop is covered with flectix insulation and that is covered with shade cloth

5. Sand box with sand moistened occasionally to keep it cooler

6. Low perch near the fan so air can circulate under them

The cord used for the box fan is one rated for outdoors and is protected and also plugged in to a GFI outlet which will trip the power if the unit gets wet.

That looks really nice. When we were looking into fans for our llamas we were told not to use the box fan because of the way the motor was set up. I think but am not sure that you need an agriculture fan because of the dust that can cause fires. We didn't mess around and got an ag on from Fleet Farm.
