Feather picking polish. Help!

I was all excited to add Polish & Polish Frizzles to my flock this year. I hatched 8 chicks from eggs purchased off ebay on May 24. All are bantam sized - 4 black/white polish frizzles; 1 white polish frizzle & 3 staight feathered polish. The feather picking started when their head feathers started coming in at about 1 month of age.

They are now 3 months old & are being fed 16% layer crumbles, cracked corn, grit & have access to grass plus goodies from the garden. The white frizzle & straight feathered ones are in one area & the 4 black/white frizzles are in another. Each group of four is in a 10 x 20 foot pen. The black/white frizzles are all bald & the other group has small bald spots on their heads. They have never been in with my other birds so the problem is limited to them.

I have been spraying them with blue kote & using rooster booster black sauve on their head EVERY day. It's not working. My next step is to trim beaks (which I really don't want to do). I am about ready to give up & get rid of all eight. Is there anyway to get them to stop? I've never had any issues with feather picking until this group of polish. I hate having greasy purple bald headed chickens running around! Plus, I'm afraid that when I have to intregrate them into my flock that my silkies might pick up the bad habit. Any suggestions? I really need some help

I have two polish mixed in a flock of all otherwise standards. I've never had the polish pick on each other, but have had them picked on by the standards. Try feeding them some high protein food, like meatballs or ground beef. They may be craving the protein from the feathers. Also, are you seeing bleeding? Or are you witnessing the picking? Because I remember my polish just having a really baldy, patchy phase that they went through. Good luck!

I have witnessed the picking. Normally it's when one is sitting down & another one is standing up next to it. The sitting one will usually just let the other one pull its feathers out. The feather loss is causing bleeding - at least a little. Since I spray their heads with blue kote they are normally purple headed & the blood is not visible.

Plus, does anyone know of any black sauve that lasts longer then the rooster booster? I only apply it once a day after I get home from work & it seems to melt off their heads after a short time.

Bump. I haven't had the picking problem but I have a customer who bought four two-month old Polish from my last hatch that does. Does anyone know why they might do this only to each other? Any other suggestions besides painting their heads?
