my chickens that free range must love it here.. they never leave my yard.. but then again the have 5 acres to roam... no my mallard ducks are another story ... they love to go swimming in my ditches that have been staying full from all of this stupid rain lately
 
Love the mental image "knapsacks on their backs"!! When visiting in-laws in Iowa we drive by a business that has a sign-- Chicken Supplies. I repeatedly told my husband I wanted to stop and see if we could buy a backpack for Speckles. Specifically I thought a red one would look good with her black and white feathers. He would just give me that look.....
 
Of course they have pockets...in their bloomers!

When I was litte my grandmother made me smocked dresses and matching bloomers with pockets!

Either knapsacks, or the little kerchief tied to a stick.

I want bloomers with pockets! My grandma made me a dress with a matching bonnet.

My Speckled Sussex is always eyeing the front yard (off limits).

DBF has threatened to outfit her with a pink back pack and rename her "Gobbles the Explorer". She would definitely head for the bus stop if she could.
