Good Morning, this is interesting....my youngest son was in the marching band many years and played the mellophone, and also played the French Horn in the wind ensemble for high school and performed 1st chair at UM and most orchestra performances also at FIU, so he studied music, theology, technique and element and components about rhythm, harmony, melody in different genres, he has often offered to teach me to read sheet music, however my brain is not wired for that type of structural education...lol...Im a simple minded man....he plays his key board and I play my guitar, we do pretty good together as a duo, he has his passion for music, and shares my passion for horses and animals. am proud to see my fathers teachings in him as well, my father was a farmer, (RIP Dad) his influence is in all of us in his family, even his great grandchildren which are my grand children whom never had the opportunity to meet him since he had passed when they were born, however I get the opportunity to teach them skills what he taught my siblings me, his legacy will live on!!!How cool, I composed a few songs in my University daysmainly ballads, I study piano as a child and learned how to read music but now like you I use mostly chords and lyrics to play.
