hi, i realy need help, my 11 year old dutch bantam/old inglish mix has been laying soft shelled eggs for over a week, and then it stopped. nothing. not even a soft shell one. all week nothing. a few minits ago i found her apart from the flock, looking all droopy, wings brushing the ground, wheseing. what looks like egg yolks and whites are driping out of her vent and she looks like she is in pain. yester day she was sitting alone in the chicken house for a few hours on the nest box. i thot nothing of it, now this! i feel so guilty. y didnt i do anything?!?! what if the shell is poking her? what can i do?!?! PLZ HELP!!!

Hi ! I'm sorry to say this, but she might not make it. I lost one to the very same thing. I tried to help, but when their wings are held downward, that's not a good sign. They usually don't survive

A long warm bath and maybe rub gently just inside her with some coconut or olive oil.
I had this happen to my love years ago when I knew nothing about chickens!!! I'll keep you both close in prayer tonight.
 
thank u all for the gr8 advice! she just layed a soft shelled egg, but she still looks droopy. looks better than be4 tho. thanks again SOOO much!!!
 
I went through this last summer while my kids were at sleepover camp. I put some nice warm water in my bath tub (enough that it was midway up her chest. So that she didn't slip, I put a bath towel under water and put her on it. I put some pedialyte in her water, and gave her some yogurt. While in the tub, I rubbed her belly, and in about an hour, yucky green discharge came out of her. I changed the water and the towel, and let her soak for a bot longer. I drained the tub, put in a fresh towel, and let her spend the night. I am pleased to say that she bounced back, and moved back out with her buddies 2 days later. The big issues are infection and dehydration. Give her her own fresh water and a owl of yogurt. Put some on her nose if you need to (yogurt has a lot of water, plus other good stuff).

well, she is outside with her flock (witch she is queen of thank you verry much!) as of this morning. she spent last night inside. However, there is a recent development: she keeps doing this "yawning" thing. she does the movements of yawning, (sorry, im no good at spelling, 7th grade is kicking my butt) but she sticks her tongue out and makes a strange noise. also, her lungs sound like paper bags being filled with air. i no shes old, but even this isnt normal 4 her. any advice?

My girls do this when they are overheated, or have eaten too much at once (dry mouth). Maybe her own water dish and a fan?
 
If that is the case, egg material inside her oviduct, you may need to give her a round of penicillin injections due to infection setting up. Some of these reproductive issues are just beyond our control to prevent or fix, sadly.
