ISA-Brown page. :)))))))

I have 11 week old ISA Browns and I was wondering when I should change their food from starter and to what? When should they start laying and what timeframe should I start them on laying whatever or anything else. Can you tell they are my first chickens ever...

Depending on what feed you can get, I feed starter to my chicks for the first couple of months, then I change over to grower pellets. When they start to lay then I switch them over to layer feed. Some feed companies have a Starter/Grower or Flock Raiser. I feed pellets as soon as I can because I hang my feeders and they seem to waste less feed. Just my opinion and how I feed my birds. Good luck and have fun...

When should ISA Browns start laying and when should I change their food, they are 11 weeks now, thanks

When I had ISA Browns, the earliest I remember any to start laying was at 16 weeks. Most of the birds started laying from around 18 weeks to around 24 weeks.

I got my first egg from my Isa Brown's. She is 4 1/2 months old now. It's a real pretty brown color and kind of a small egg but it's her first.

My isa's are making me proud today! Got 2 first eggs. Now waiting for the other 10 to start laying also. They are a beautiful brown with nice hard shells! They are 18 weeks and 1 day old! I'm so happy! It's like Christmas morning!

Got my first two eggs at exactly 16 weeks! Looks like a trend happening here. Been getting two eggs a day for the past three days. So, at least 2 out of 10 are laying. Going to switch to layer feed now and provide oyster shell supplement.

Store bought on left, homegrown on right! A double-yolker! Pretty good sizes for first eggs. I'm proud of my girls!

Congratulations!!! My ISA's averaged 6 eggs a week. They did usually take off one day during the week. The double yolker is pretty common more often when they are new layers.
