How to DYE CHICKS before they hatch?

I'm not planning to do it, but I'd like to know HOW it's done. Doesn't it have to be done on a certain day of the chicks development? What kind and amount of dye is used? Size of needle? Are there any health issues later on?
 
I really hope I'm not the only one thinking this, but... HUH??? lol

I didn't know they could do it before hatching. I thought they sprayed them with a coloring after they hatched, like that aerosol hair color they always sell around halloween.
 
I remember when I was young seeing the dyed chicks at Easter time,.. they were hatching in an incubator at the feed store and coming out all those pastel colors. I thought they would stay that way.
