Yay! My 12 eggs are shipping out on Monday! I am also trying to get ine more set but we will see!

I do have a question....do the splits work the same as with breeding solid birds for lavender? I breed lavender silkies but just want to make sure this is the same. So if you had a coronation roo over a split hen would you get 50% splits and 50% coronations?

If the coronation is a simple recessive then you should get that mix. Remember its 50-50 for each chick produced. They have a 50-50 chance of being either light or coronation. But ALL your light chicks will be splits.

Thanks! That helps! So it is the same as lavender silkies. I was wondering, since they get so big, do they need a larger than average nest bos and doors? All of ours are the standard size. I was thinking of taking the next box dividers out to give them some more room. Also, if showing them are they an AOV or is Coronation recognized? I only have a bantam standard, I need to get a regular one now!

My eggs all ship tomorrow!

I saw two coronation Sussex at at show a few weeks ago. The color is very pretty. If I have it right they are a lavender form of the "light sussex: or genetically self blue columbian?

Gorgeous pic Keesmom! I am goint to try and candle tonight! I just set 22 coro eggs on Sunday! I can't wait for these guys to hatch!

How well do they lay? I am thinking of keeping one or two roosters and 6 hens to be safe. I want enough eggs to eat, and also some to hatch. I know two roos is a lot for 6/7 hens but I heard they are very docile and want a "back up roo".
