Here is a link to a study out of the Netherelands about ivermectin residuals in eggs after oral dosage of ivermectin in the feed. It also talks about it in liver & kidney meat. I'm adding this in case others want to reference it. The abstract gave a nice summary I thought. FYI: An mcg (a microgram) is one thousandth of a milligram. To convert micrograms to milligrams, divide by 1000 e.g. 5600 mcg = 5.6 mg http://www.euroresidue.nl/ER_IV/Contributions I-Z/keukens 678-682.PDF And here is a link to a site that talks about the use of ivermectin in humans. This is not comprehensive, obviously, but still interesting. http://www.drugs.com/cons/ivermectin.html I found these links through google searches for my own information and thought I'd share.

Thank you. May save people a lot of wasted eggs. Figuring the avg mg/kg dose recommended here, falls somewhere in between the 2nd and 3rd group and the duration is much smaller. The way I read it, even feeding them back their own eggs for just a handful of days will put them under the detectable levels.

Glad I could help. And while we don't feed it to them for 3+ weeks, the pour-on is also absorbed into the system, that's why it works. So, a person may be able to calculate how much their hens are absorbing and how much is getting into the eggs. Actually, it might be more accurate, because you know exactly how much the hen is getting. Mixing ivermectin in the food would result in a more variable outcome because of the difference in how much of it each bird eats--at least the way most of us feed our backyard birds. Anyway, my purpose in posting this was for people to have more information so they could weigh the risks/benefits for themselves no matter how they are applying the ivermectin.

What is the dose for hens and roos of Lf and what age is it usable? Thats the pour on type. Thanks Gloria Jean

Ps I had these earlier but have misplaced them, Thanks

Yes. 4-5 drops on the back of the neck where it meets the back. I've done it this way once and it seemed to work. A knowledgable person here, but on another thread, recommended this as the most efficient way to use the injectable rather than in the water.
