What chicken breed lays the most eggs?

Quote:
When you say, "lays the most eggs" do you mean in a year or live time?

Most breed that lay like crazy the first year or two of there life will tend to peter out and lay very little eggs after year 3.

hatchery (O NO I DIDN"T SAY THAT) sourced white leghorn hen- lays the most eggs per year as a less than 4 year old bird...

Leghorns... but the record(recorded record) goes to an australorp hen. this feat has not been replicated again yet.

I think the australorp laid 363 eggs in 365 days. Right??? any Idea how the guy proved this?????
My white leghorn and sexlinks are GREAT layers!

Here are my votes:
- Dark Brown Leghorns
- Other Leghorns
- Most Hamburgs
- OEPFs
- Campines
- Dorkings
(In about that order)
- Sexlinks (they should have never started breeding these things...

I would say Leghorns. Only time I had a hen lay two eggs in a day it was a white Leghorn, although I had an EE that laid for 11 years and laid her first egg at 4 month.
