After reading some of the bad results with the post office and chicks I thought I would post a success story. We ordered 10 Light Brahma's from Cackle Hatchery. We ordered 10 to avoid the chicken math problem which is the same math problem we had in the past with exotic birds. One pet became 60+ pets and breeders. This was Cackle's city-town special, all pullets and no packing peanuts. we did not want extra roosters.

The chicks left Cackle on Wednesday and I picked them up this morning (Friday)

Cackle had them packed in a double box with a heat pack and packing between the two boxes. The heat pack was still warm to the touch, which surprised me.

We opened the box and one at a time dipped each ones beak in the water, they started to drink immediately. We put food in a saucer and they knew what to do.

All seem active and healthy except one that is a little slow/behind the others, but they have only been out of the box for 5 hours

That sounds like it all ended just fine! It's nice to read that someone had a good success for sure after all the different posts you see about people loosing their chicks in the mail! :)
