She hatched solid blue - a shade lighter on her tummy. I see a hint of eye stripes now, though. But very subtle!

So what is she? A friend suggested blue fawn... but I looked at pics and those look waaay more yellow than she does as a baby. Her down is definitely slate blue in color, though some shoulder feathers coming in look brownish. She's Ancona, by the way. No other breeds in my flock.

but definitely Ancona. But so perfect in temperament, awesome layer, the flock welcome wagon, friends with everyone. Actually these two are my best temperament kiddos. The drake is named Honey Badger (cos he don't care!) such a laid-back dude! So this baby as their offspring is the most lap-friendly chill bird. She came from a bad hatch (stupid me experimenting with the incubator) and she's such an awesome gal I'm thinking of making her an "ambassaduck" to come with me to the farmers' market and such when we sell eggs. She'll live with the flock when she's big enough but we'll try to keep her happy and spoiled as a lap baby for 'field trips'
