I have been wanting chickens for several years but was living in Japan and then in a rental property in San Diego. Will be moving to Arizona (SE Phoenix area) this summer and hoping to have a house with enough space for chickens soon!

My husband is getting out of the US Navy and has gotten a job in Arizona, so we are packing up our 3 kids (under 7) and leaving this expensive state and moving East!

I was just looking into the rules for backyard chickens and it says 200 feet from the neighbors??? That means you've gotta have a pretty good sized property to have chickens. And I'm guessing that most homes with HOAs do not allow chicks at all? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome to BYC. I am over on the Arizona Chickens Thread. I live in Far East Mesa, which is SE of SE Phoenix. Here our coop must be 35 feet from the neighbors living quarters. I live in an HOA where chickens are forbidden but not enforced (yet). The city of Mesa allows for 10 chickens on a normal sized lot. Hope to see you on the Arizona Thread.
