Emergency Incubator - What have you used?

I'm curious about what other people have used as an emergency incubator.

I have no incubator, and suddenly found myself in a situation where I needed to hatch abandoned eggs. Well, my solution the first day was a small cardboard box, an old hand towel, and an old desk lamp with a 60W bulb. And some water dripped on the towel and occassionally over the egg for moisture.
The second egg ended up hatching during a power outage - my mother in-law put together a sock filled with rice, warmed up in a microwave (she was down the road and had power briefly), put into the cardboard box, and nestled around it. It ended up hatching in the car on the way home.

Currently, (and what I had for the second egg to begin with), is a tub from Country Crock margarine, upside-down with a 'doorway' cut into in, and a wet paper towel. This sits inside the rubbermaid brooder with a proper heat lamp hanging over it (now that the power is back on). This hatched my third chick overnight /this morning.

Obviously, poor temperature controls, highly variable humidity, and the eggs were very cold to begin with, and I hatched 3 of 4! (The other egg had been damaged, and I hadn't really expected it to make it even with it pipping).

I think alot of people have probly used a lamp and a box
I have heard of useing heating pads as well and also crock pots set on low
I havent had to use anything like that befor but hopefully someone else will answer .

I used a fish tank with two heating pads. I put washcloths under the moist heating pad. I covered the top with a plastic bag with a little opening for ventilation.

It worked okay, my temps fluctuated at night. I much prefer to have an incubator. I'm looking to buy an incubator and will not hatch again without one. My broody hen ate 2 of her chicks. I was able to hatch 3 of 5.

I used a thermometer with a humidity gauge.

An electric blanket :) eggs are nested together in a fleece jumper with only one layer between them and the sheet over the blanket. Candled this morning and saw definite movement in one... Not sure about the other two...

A few years back I know some on here tried to hatch eggs in their bras.....some were actually successful, although it took a day or so longer than normal.

UGH! Im in this situation NOW! hen left nest before 5th egg hatched. Its viable! Iv candled the heck out of it and float tested it!
Im using warm wet napkins and a heating pad.. Pretty much my only option :/

My hens abandoned six eggs, I have four babies inside with me and three hens currently loving just one peep, I do not have an incubator so we are using a heating pad with a cup of water in a bucket my husband cut down to about five inches in height. I candled the eggs and there is movement in all six eggs I will post what happens

What I'm currently using is a lunch box filled with towels, two microwaved socks filled with rice, and a reptile heating pad. I don't know if it is going to work but I'm still hoping! This is also my first time trying to hatch eggs and I'm not even sure if there fertile (but there is a rooster with them), think there on day 2 or 3 but one I found today and figured I'd try that one too.
