Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

They need to check the mill date on their chick starter, if it's old, not good.
Some chicks just won't live, for whatever reason, sometime it's just their genetics. Worth a try, making sure it can actually eat. And it's easy to drown a chick giving liquids by mouth, sadly.
Mary

Thank you, Mary! I told them not to syringe feed if at all possible and sent them a picture of how a bird's mouth is set up (with the trechea in the middle of the tongue). I think if they mix the medications with raw yolk, they can put it on the side of the beak and the baby will eat.

Air quality alert today! Smoke from Canadian wildfires impacting us today...
Mary
Oh no! Stay safe! 1-2 years back we had to get an air purifier the smoke was so bad...Definitely helped. But dog broke it.
I did not know we had a warning until you mentioned it, so TY for the warning, Mary! Here is my air quality forecast!

Two years ago we bought three room air filters, and right now they are all running! I was outside briefly, and besides the haze, could smell smoke faintly. Ugh! Have to get the N95 face masks out again.
Mary
Hopefully it passes by next week! We don't have any smoke..yet. But I am sure by tomorrow it will come our way:barnie:he😶‍🌫️

Hey, everyone. Haven't been getting notices of posts.
Been busy. Lots going on. Hubby's health isn't good right now, so I'm doing most of the outdoor chores, and trying to keep the house presentable, also. Did manage to go on a short camping trip to Frankenmuth. He stayed at the camper while daughter, her hubby and I went to town and enjoyed the dog bowl.
Sons came over while we were gone to do some trim painting on our house. Turned out to be quite more. My porch got a complete makeover. Trim didn't get painted, tho. But had a fun bbq get together with the family. One son came from Chicago to help son that lives in area. So, so tired. Just got back from camping and getting ready for 16 people to come over...
The chicks I got from TSC are doing great. I had one chick that wasn't growing and slept a lot. I put electrolytes in the water and after about a week I noticed it perking up and eating more. She's about a third of the size of the others but seems to be doing good. Pretty sure I have a rooster in the mix. They had a day out on Friday and absolutely loved it. Gave them a pan of dirt and so fun watching them take dust baths.

I remember watching my Dominique chicks trying to take dust baths. Too precious.
