Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Well winter is definitely back with a vengeance. Freezing rain, sleet, ice pellets, snow, all blowing sideways on an East wind, and sometimes several of them at the same time. I spent an hour and a half getting my driveway cleared, roofs raked, and chicken run shoveled out reasonably. Only got my car stuck once when I had to move it for the tractor, but I was able to shovel it back out again. They closed the Mackinac bridge at one point for a while, back open now with high wind warnings. But, it's 27° which is a lot better than 5°
Ugh, I'm so sorry!! Meanwhile, it was 60° down in SW MI and most of our snow melted 🫠

Well. We took a trip to Rural King yesterday because I want to purchase Isa Browns (since they are sex-linked and I don't need more roos). I'm not ready to purchase, yet, it will be more like May. When I was looking at these babies, many of them had pasty butt and some were straining to poo. It was honestly heartbreaking. There were dead chicks in with live ones and no one was over in the chick area to report it to. Is my next best course of action to just order directly from a the hatchery? They also have the Isa Browns in with another breed that isn't sex-link. I don't remember which, tho.

I'm also super tempted to hatch my own. My best layer is laying these huge green eggs right now and I would love to see what her mix is like with my roo. They are barnyard mixes.
