Everytime I boil my bantam's eggs, I'm reminded of how inaccurate the "float test" is. These eggs are about half-air-sac and were laid this week.

I never do a float test, just bring in eggs daily.
When I occasionally found a hidden nest, those eggs got pitched, not eaten. Now our hens don't seem to be hiding nests, a good thing.
