Nobody home?
I'm wondering how you are all doing, in this very chilly January. It's 5F this morning, and not likely to get above freezing until next month here.
A real winter! Are you all keeping warm? That 100+ vehicle pile-up near Zeeland was amazing, not in a good way. People drive too close, especially on bad roads, what a mess! Glad we weren't there, and that nobody died.
@1muttsfan, how are you doing up there, where it's really been winter?

I was wondering too where everyone is. Been so quiet. Been staying in and keeping warm. Haven't gone on my daily walk with Smokey for a few days now. One reason is that I over-did it shoveling snow and the other the weather. Glad I have sore back for an excuse. Going to see if I can do the exercise bike today.

Mostly just hanging out in the house here. I haven't "closed my ring" on the fitness thing on my iphone a few days in the past seven. (Came on the phone; I didn't buy an app.)

So the next day after not closing it, a message comes up, "You didn't close your ring yesterday." The next line should be (but isn't): "Hey, are you ok? Did you hurt your back/knee/hip/ankle? Can I be more encouraging to inspire you?"

But at least it doesn't say, "You didn't close your ring yesterday, ya lazy slacker!"

I want to tell it, "Phone, when it's 5°F and the windchill is -12°, I am not going to close my ring. Just not going to do it. Leave me alone about this, ok? I still work out on the elliptical EVERY FREAKIN' DAY!"

Sally, do you know that you can pause your rings? I had to do it for two days because I hurt my back shoveling. Also, why aren't you recording your work out on the elliptical??
So much snow, and I'm not going to shovel it. Well, I cheated some and used my mini leaf blower to clean the deck stairs so my dog didn't have to dog wouldn't bring so much snow in. My front sidewalk is covered in snow. Someone does the driveway. He did it this morning but it snowed again. Fed X had trouble getting out of my driveway. Sliding all over.
Stay safe. Stay warm.

Also, why aren't you recording your work out on the elliptical??
I have my phone on me when I do the elliptical. According to the phone, I burn around 35 calories. According to the elliptical, it's more like 80-85.

I know the phone counts impulses as "steps" and the elliptical is quite smooth.

Today, I closed my ring and got 16K+ steps in. Shopping (walking up and down aisles) and 25° outside so we could do all three dog walks.

:tongue Take that, iphone ring thingie!

Take care of yourself Rose, this is not the kind of weather where you want to be slipping and falling.

I don't see any temperature predictions over the mid teens for the next week. The lake is making ice, so looks like pond hockey is a big possibility here this year. And we have tons of snow in case anybody needs some extra.

Birds have been kept in most of the time. We have had a bitter, cold, sharp Northwest wind, and they are just more comfortable indoors. I throw a little extra shavings down each day and something interesting for them to peck at, they don't seem unhappy but they do look a little bored.

Birds are definitely bored. I throw popcorn in the run. Hubby gets the leftover popcorn from where he works. I have the run wrapped tight, so they do go out a bit. Mostly in the coop with the heat lamp. Yes, I'm using a heat lamp. Temps are just too extreme. I wish the snow would stop!!

Almost white out right now, beautiful to see from inside, wouldn't want to be on the road this morning!
And the cold coming tonight, and for the next week, not nice! The birds haven't been out since the snow cover, they won't go out in it anyway. The coop is a better place for them, and I might add a heat lamp tonight too. The injured pullet now has a heat plate, the youngest chicks have their heat plate, and maybe a lamp in the main coop. Maybe.
