Hey , today my very first cuckoo scots dumpy chick hatched while i was riding my horse , i cam back to find him only out of the shell about 5 minutes!! hes black , with a white belly , and of coarse short legs! hes the first cuckoo dumpy to be born here , and has 2 siblings on the way! he also has 5 big brothers and sisters , scots dumpys of the brown and white color (rarest in the world) so has anyone any name idea's for this special little guy?? thanks
 
Hello again! Congrats on your new chick! Is there a US equivalent to a Scots Dumpy? Sounds like it might be a local breed for you. I'm assuming "dumpy" refers to short legs? and he's cuckoo, so grey/black and white barred?

Hmmmmm. Have to think on the name. Since he's your first hatched, maybe a serious name... Zeus or Jupiter? You might want to wait for him to grow up and match his name to his temperament. I have a pullet we named Delilah as a chick, but now that she's older, we call her Grumpus, because it suits her better!

yes , sumi we have been chatting for days haah , and no , the scots dumpy is an extremely old , endangered breed , ut has been ariund since the 1700's but nearly went extinct in the 1900's! its about the best breed you could get , and is the most pure breed! true to their name have legs under 5cm , and have a rare creeper gene , it kills over 25% in the egg! and we always name our chicks on day 1 , ive even named a few eggs even befored we popped em in the bator LOL like bella my duck! there is no other name , they are just endangered , and originated from scotland , only a few countries have them , there is only about 8 in ireland , 9 now! heres my scots dumpy roo , rocky1 he has his own thread called rocky a little lifeline , look it up :)
 
he will be cuckoo coloured , the normal cuckoo , barred like! and rocky is one of the rarest birds in the world , there is only a few of him , olike under 100! and thankyou!

You'll make me wish you have 2 roosters LOL I'm going to have to find a house quick. And build a coop. And get an incubator. And a girlfriend for the possible roo

How long does it take to buy a house by you anyway? I hear it's something like 6 months. Hold your horses, ehh, chickens LOL
 
haha , well it takes a while alright! , although , we chose , and moved to our house from the city in a week LOL the agents were stunned , and the next week had a roo! and dont worry about hens , they are everywhere down here! and you can use an old kennel for a coop , thats what we use for or small coop
